Slope (shoulder) Dread SD
The Slope‑Shouldered Dreadnought (SD) began its life as a Custom Series design and has since evolved into a fully realized model available with either a 12‑ or 14‑fret body connection. Its rounded shoulders and balanced proportions give it a versatile voice that works equally well for strumming, flatpicking, and fingerstyle.
The SD has a natural strength and presence that players expect from a dreadnought, yet its slope‑shouldered outline softens the response just enough to keep the mids clear and the bass warm rather than overwhelming. Many players appreciate how comfortably it handles fingerstyle work, even though it remains a powerful rhythm instrument.
As with all of John’s models, the SD can be tailored to a player’s style through thoughtful wood selection and custom options. Whether voiced for dynamic strumming or refined for a more nuanced touch, the SD offers a broad tonal palette wrapped in a classic, expressive body shape.
