Looking back, I realized I never posted an update for 2020 or 2021 — probably because those years felt like one long, blurry stretch. Even though I’m back‑dating this entry so it falls in the right place on the timeline, I’m writing it in 2026, now that I’m finally getting the website back in order.
You’d think the pandemic would have been the perfect time to hunker down in the shop and develop new ideas. Instead, it completely knocked me off my stride. Focus was hard to come by, motivation came in short bursts, and I eventually stopped building spec guitars altogether. Like a lot of people, I was just trying to get through it, and many close to me were dealing with their own challenges.
It’s almost funny reading the updates from the years around it — all those moments where I said I’d be updating the website “soon.” In theory, this would have been the ideal time to do it. In reality, I just didn’t have the bandwidth for that kind of sustained attention.
So this entry fills in the gap. Not much to show from those two years, but they were part of the story, and they shaped the work that followed.
